SPAN 22300 - Readings in Spanish Peninsular CulturesCourse Credit: 1 Maximum Credit: 0 (GLIS) This course targets the development of critical thinking, reading and argumentative writing in Spanish through the study of the cultural history of Spain. Students work collaboratively to develop a nuanced perspective on the people, events, and cultural practices that have fostered the formation of Spain’s multi-lingual, multi-ethnic, and multi-cultural modern identity. This course examines life in Spain through the study of art, literature, music, dance, film, and texts, with special attention given to marginalized groups. Prerequisite(s): SPAN-20100 and SPAN-20200 (or equivalents) are prerequisites, and students are expected to remain in command of Spanish grammar by continuing to review independently. Annually.
