The Bachelor of Music Education in Public School Teaching (B.M.E.) is a pre-professional degree that prepares students to teach vocal and instrumental music across grades K-12 and qualifies them for Ohio licensure. Coursework in educational pedagogy, choral and instrumental methods, conducting, and instrumental and vocal techniques grounds students in effective classroom practices for learners. Intensive study in Western music theory and musicology sharpens analytical skills and across musical styles and cultural contexts. Through applied lessons, ensemble participation, and recitals, students refine their individual musicianship and artistry. The degree culminates in a full-semester student-teaching placement that integrates campus learning with real-world practice
