HIST 20214 - Workshop: Blogs and Online Newsletters

WORKSHOP: BLOGS & ONLINE NEWSLETTERS Scholars are increasingly moving beyond books and articles to reach a public interested in history. Some have turned to blogging and, more recently, longform online newsletters. This class will provide students with the opportunity to develop their own blogs and newsletters in a workshop setting. We will work through all of the stages of the production process from developing an idea to posting. Considerable time will be spent workshopping student writing. We will also read a variety of blogs and digital newsletters to get ideas for our own. This course may be a good place for you to develop a new project based on a historical or personal interest or perhaps even to develop a blog that showcases your Independent Study research (in history or another discipline). Prerequisite(s): One course in History or permission of the instructor.
