SOCI 29907 - Social Justice and the CityCourse Credit: 1 (URBN) SOCIAL JUSTICE AND THE CITY Who are cities for? Who has the right to decide what cities look like? What spaces are people allowed to be in? This class will look at the question of social justice from a spatial perspective. The field of spatial justice simply asks how our location in space or geography affects our access to the key resources needed to survive and thrive. We will examine how inequality and privilege relate to urban space, highlighting how race, class, gender, ethnicity and sexuality affect the physical and social geographies of cities. [HSS, SJ]
