COMM 35300 - Quantitative Methods

QUANTITATIVE METHODS. This course examines descriptive and experimental research methods as they apply to research in Communication Studies and Communication Sciences and Disorders. The goal of this course is to provide students with a working knowledge of quantitative methods so that they can make informed choices when conducting their own research studies and can critique research studies conducted by others. Course topics include, but are not limited to, measurement techniques (surveys, survey interviews, focus groups, content analysis) and related concerns such as creating research questions, reliability, validity, and coding; sampling; experimental design; data entry; data analysis; writing research results.  Prerequisite(s): COMM-11100, minimum grade of C-; and at least one 200 Level COMM course, minimum grade of C-; or permission of instructor.  (Prerequisite of COMM 11100, minimum grade of C- waived for ENVS majors who have completed a 200-level COMM course, minimum grade of C-).
