COMM 22700 - Intercultural CommunicationCourse Credit: 1 (COMS) This course provides an introduction to communication between people from different cultures and examines the processes and politics of intercultural communication in both domestic and international contexts by focusing on the application of intercultural communication theory and research. Students will enhance their intercultural awareness by exploring differences in identity construction, identity management in intercultural settings, intergroup relationship development and conflict resolution, and intercultural communication competence and ethics. Class assignments and exercises examine everyday encounters with individuals from different races, ethnicities, religions, genders, ages, sexual orientations, and physical abilities. Prerequisite(s): COMM 11100 Alternate Years. [C]
