SOCI 19903 - Technology & Social Change

A social psychological examination of technological trends and tools in relation to social change. Relying on theory and empirical evidence, the course focuses on larger cultural values revealed in technology, the language of technology and ways that our use of technology impacts processes of socializationand notions of self in various contexts. Also examined are the digital self, digital divides, and various arguments for how technological trends and tolls affect individuals, groups, organizations and society as a whole.
