RELS 26720 - Asian Religions in AmericaCourse Credit: 1 (CHIN, EAST) This course focuses on the histories & present circumstances of immigrant communities & traditions in America, from “Asian” cultures & religious traditions (e.g., immigrants from East Asian & South Asian cultures, & bringing religious cultures such as Buddhism & Hinduism to American culture). How have these persons & communities who have migrated to the USA (from the 19th to the 21st centuries) found & made homes in the American religious landscape? How have they adapted their religious identities & traditions as they have become part of American society? (Recommended preparation: RELS course(s) and/or related courses in ANTH, SOCI, or HIST.)
