GLOBALIZATION AND ITS DISCONTENTS This course offers a critical examination of globalization through anthropological theory and case studies. After introducing seminal theories of globalization, we will read ethnographic works on migration for labor or citizenship, different medical and religious frameworks, NGOs aid and development organizations, and environmental movements to better understand global and transnational processes and politics in the world today. Prerequisite(s): ANTH-11000 or SOAN-11000 or instructor permission. Annually. [GE, HSS]
