ENVIRONMENTAL URBAN ECONOMICS This course applies economic ideas to contemporary environmental issues within the context of urban dynamics. Special emphasis will be placed on understanding the unique nature of pollution, externalities, environmental regulation, policy, and environmental justice in an urban setting. We will also discuss the design of incentives to reduce urban externalities such as crime, pollution and traffic congestion. Relevant examples that relate urban dynamics to environmental issues in both high and low-income countries will be covered. Prerequisite(s): Prequisite: ECON-10100 or Permission of Instructor [HSS]
