ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNICATION This course examines how different groups have symbolically constructed and discussed the environment and the consequences of such symbolic frames. Over the course of the semester, the class will cover topics such as public participation in environmental decisions, conflict resolution and collaboration in environmental disputes, media and the environment, risk communication, environmental advocacy campaigns, environmental justice campaigns, messages about the environment from science and industry, and the phenomenon of green marketing. Students will also gain practical skills to help them better analyze messages about the environment and to inform and advocate on its behalf.
