THTD 26200 - Latin American Theatre and PerformanceCourse Credit: 1 (CMLT, LAST,WGSS) LATIN AMERICAN THEATRE AND PERFORMANCE Students will examine the historical development of diverse performance traditions and read texts from some of the most influential Latin American theatre practitioners. Additionally, the course will focus on performances created from within “marginal” communities of the Americas, allowing for a comparative study of theatre across the hemisphere. Although each Latin American nation possesses its own history and identity, it is violence-from the conquest of Columbus to the twentieth-century dictatorships-that has been a common link between the people of the Americas.
