COMM 25600 - Asian Political RhetoricCourse Credit: 1 ASIAN POLITICAL RHETORIC. This course introduces students to concepts and contexts shaping public address in Asian countries. Students will apply perspectives from Asian and Western rhetorical canons to critique political messages by publics and public figures from a range of Asian countries and connect themes in historical speeches to contemporary Asian politics. Through assignments such as reading responses and a Rhetorics of Asia class project, students will consider the identity paradoxes of Asian female orators, rhetorics of nonviolence, rhetorical legacies, forms of nonverbal persuasion and protest in Asia, and the rhetorics of independence in Asian countries.
