Communication and Technology This course is an introduction to contemporary issues in communication technologies. We will explore the social, political, cultural, and economic impacts of new technology. This course examines the relationship between communication, technological, and social change. The course will survey key historical technologies and focus on key aspects of the Internet and other new media technologies. We will discuss new media industry trends, regulatory and digital divide issues, impacts of new technologies on the telecommunications industry and society. Technology is a cause and response to larger social changes. We will discuss such changes at the individual, organizational and societal level. [AH]
