GREK 20100 - Seminar in Greek Literature I, Intermediate Level ICourse Credit: 1 (AMST, ARCH, CLST, CMLT) SEMINAR IN GREEK LITERATURE (INTERMEDIATE LEVEL I) Offered in conjunction with GREK 30100. Translation and careful study of continuous passages selected from several representative Greek texts - for instance, works of Homer, Hesiod, selected Greek lyric poets, Sophocles, Euripides, Thucydides, Herodotus, Plato, Aristotle, Attic orators, and occasionally non-literary materials (e.g., inscriptions or papyrus). A review of basic grammar; instruction in the use of commentaries, lexicon, reference works, and scholarly literature; an introduction to textual analysis, both literary and historical, and the Major in Classical Studies. Readings will change from year to year. In fall 2016, students will read a variety of styles and genres from the New Testament in koine Greek. Prerequisite(s): GREK-10200, or placement Annually. [AH]
