AFST 24400 - Cinema of Africa and the African Diaspora

This course explores issues of race, class, culture, the colonial, and the anti-colonial thought through an examination of cinema created within and focusing on continental and diasporic African life. Accompanying the cinematic texts will be an array of written texts that contribute to the class discussion across the fields of history, post-colonial theory, and film theory.
