This course examines a variety of contemporary approaches in biblical studies (e.g., liberationist, postcolonial, feminist, womanist), which emphasizes the social-cultural context of the interpreter as a normative principle in the work of interpretation. Race/ethnicity, gender & sexuality, and class will be figured as the primary categories of this interpretive move. Special attention will be given to the recent works from scholars of color-African American, Latino/a American, and Asian American-in North American context. No prerequisite is required. [AH, C, R]
